CEREC One-Visit Restorations in Rexburg, ID

At Dental Health Center, we use CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) technology to create and place ceramic restorations, such as crowns, veneers, inlays, and onlays, in a single dental visit. CEREC allows our dentists to create high-quality, custom-made restorations using computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology.

CEREC restorations are designed to be minimally invasive. They require less removal of healthy tooth structure compared to traditional restorations, preserving more of the natural tooth.

The Procedure for CEREC One-Visit Restorations

Instead of using traditional putty-like impression materials, CEREC utilizes a digital impression system. A handheld intraoral scanner captures precise digital impressions of the teeth, eliminating the need for messy impression materials.

The digital impressions are used to create a 3D virtual model of the teeth and surrounding structures that can be displayed on a computer screen. The dentist designs the restoration using specialized CAD software, customizing its shape, size, and fit to match the patient's specific needs.

After the restoration is designed, the CAD software sends the digital information to a milling machine in the dental office. The milling machine uses diamond burs to carve the restoration from a block of ceramic material, such as porcelain, in a process known as CAM.

The milling machine crafts the restoration with high precision based on the dentist's design. The ceramic material used in CEREC restorations closely matches the color and translucency of natural teeth, resulting in aesthetically pleasing results.

Once the restoration is milled, the dentist makes any necessary adjustments, such as fine-tuning the shape and checking the fit. The restoration is then bonded directly to the tooth using dental adhesive or cement. The dentist ensures proper alignment and occlusion before finalizing the restoration.

The Benefits of CEREC One-Visit Restorations

Time Efficiency

CEREC eliminates the need for multiple dental visits typically required for traditional restorations. With CEREC, the entire process, from digital impressions to placement, can often be completed within a single dental appointment. This saves patients time and reduces the inconvenience of multiple visits.

Convenience

CEREC restorations are created and placed in one visit, unlike traditional restorations that require additional appointments as well as the placement of temporary restorations. With CEREC restorations, patients can walk out of our office with a completely restored smile on the same day.
